New Job, New Suit - Part Seven

Hours pass as I drive, the endless prattling of the over-caffeinated country girl being the only thing keeping me awake for the final stretch. As the sun begins to rise behind the car it illuminates the speck of a city on the horizon, the home goal finally coming into view.

I feel sick to my stomach, the immense amount of ice coffee and the continued concentration in driving causing my stomach to churn and my eyes to ache.

"Darlin' can't we jus' pull over for a small nap?" Kelly remarks, obviously feeling the same bodily distress I was.

"Just a...just a bit more and I promise we'll get some rest" I groan in my sweet new voice, recoiling a little as I hear myself for the first time in hours. As I speak I feel my nausea worsen, causing me to purse my lips and focus on the road for the time being.

As I begin to move through the outer suburbs, heading closer to the city, Kelly remains relatively quiet. For a moment I wonder if she had fallen asleep inside my head or something, finding the silence eerie after hours of hearing her stories of living in a small country town.

However, as we start to pass more tightly packed family homes Kelly immediately surges back into the forefront of my mind.

"Look at them, ain't they lovely" Kelly coos softly, the voice in my head sounding like it was in a fantasizing dream-like state. "Look! Look! They're gettin' ready for school! Oh, their mama is seein' them off now ain't that jus' the sweetest thing"

With a bit of a sigh I decide to hazard having a bit of a conversation, running the risk of another bout of nausea or something far worse. "Did you have a family like that back home?" I ask, helping the woman in my head out by looking from side to side as we pass the charming family homes.

"Nah I ain't never had that" she says, sounding more depressed than I thought Kelly could sound. "Was jus' me an' the farm" she continues.

I open my mouth to say something, back am immediately cut off by Kelly shouting in our shared head.

"The Farm! Dang it!" she cries out, hissing the latter half as she feels the stinging headache brought on by her yelling.

"What about it?" I ask softly, trying to quieten her down. "You must have sold it to pay for...you know".

"Nope" Kelly snaps cheerily in reply. "I could never sell the ol' place, but I...well I had ta sell pretty much everthin' else".

"So we own a..." I mutter, trailing off as the city grows ever closer.

"A farm? You bet...though it ain't as nice as...well..." she trails off as well, getting lost in the houses and a growing number of apartment buildings as we begin to approach the campus.

The area around the college rapidly shifts in appearance. The family homes and apartments give way to what feels like a solid wall of student accommodation before shifting again to well-maintained gardens and parkland. Kelly coos in my head as we pass under long archways of beautifully flowering tree, her excitement building as she begins to rapidly identify the plants by the names she knew them all by.

"There's some lavender, oh oh and some lil' bells, and those are...well one's white roses an' the other is...well not white roses but basically white roses" she mutters, giggling to herself as if making a game of it all.

Looking down at my phone I quickly open the email, reading in between glances at the road as I try to direct myself to the address supplied to me by the college. Driving more and more slowly I find myself pulling up by a rather large lake, the small parking lot adjacent to it having the only path I can see leading up to a rather small set of buildings.

They appear to be rather cozy houses, very modern and sharp in design. There is a healthy amount of space between each of the three units, enough for two people to walk down shoulder to shoulder, with a small bit of garden and lawn making them fit a little more with the natural environment. A path paved in old limestone leads from the houses to the parking lot, splitting in two as one side runs down to the lake and the other towards the old Victorian buildings that signaled the start of the campus proper.

"These are pretty cute ain't they" a very tired-sounding Kelly mutters. "So are we stayin' 'ere?"

"I..." I begin to respond, a knock on the driver's side window causing me to cut myself short with a yelp.

"Ma'am?" a muffled voice calls out from beyond my door.

Turning to look at the source of the voice I see a woman in her thirties, her dark hair tied back in an extremely tight bun, dressed in extremely business-like clothing. She looked a little shorter than me, maybe 5'7" with severe features and narrowed blue eyes. She taps again at the window before tapping the watch on her wrist, indicating that time was of the essence.

Straightening out my massive black shirt, wearing it more like a dress than a t-shirt, I open the car door. On trembling legs I begin to wheel my body around, unbuckling my seat belt as I feel it slide up between my large freely hanging breasts. With a great deal of effort, I pull myself to my feet, swaying a little as I feel the exhaustion hit me.

"Good morning...Ms. McDonald" chirps the stern-looking woman, looking between my womanly body and at a clipboard in her hand as she says my name.

I go to correct her, but before I can get a word in edgewise she merely continues.

"You're residence is...487A, the one on the far left. Here are your keys" she quickly states, practically forcing a set of keys into my hand as I struggle to keep up.

"Sign here, here, and...here" she exclaims, spinning the clipboard around so I could see the forms as she points at some blank fields.

My mind races to catch up, even Kelly has stopped talking as she too struggles to work out what was happening. The woman quickly places a pen in my free hand, guiding my hand to the form as if to hurry me along.

"What...are these?" I mutter, signing the forms in the empty spaces as instructed. "And my name is Jordan, Jordan Hughes"

"Was, was Jordan Hughes. You look like Ms. Kelly McDonald, so that's the name you'll go by" the woman snaps in a matter-of-fact tone. "These forms are just to confirm that fact, get you on the payroll, and transfer the lease on 487A to you. Inside you'll find the unit has been stocked with the essentials, please explore it at your leisure. A small stipend of $500 has been granted for you to...get settled, as well as two days off before you are to begin your duties on campus. Please report to security to have an ID made up for you before starting your first day. Have a lovely morning" the woman rapidly blurts out, speeding through the induction before hastily making her way up the path towards the college.

I'm left standing in shock, processing her words with my desperately sleep-deprived brain.

"Well...Kelly ain't ya gonna head inside" taunts Kelly, giggling to herself.

"Don't call me..." I mumble angrily in her voice, cutting myself short as I lean against the car to avoid collapse.

"Darlin' we can deal with that later. Pleeeeease jus' get some sleep, ya gonna make us sick" she pleads in a caring motherly tone.

Sighing to myself I glance between the car, the unit, and the woman as her power walking carries her further and further into the distance. "Fine" I mutter, closing the car door and locking it behind me as I sway my way up the path to the cozy little unit.

The features of the house, the design of the rooms, all of these things pass me by as I search for the one thing I want...a bed. Towards the back of my new home I find it, a large master bedroom with a perfectly comfy looking king sized bed.

As I shuffle towards the bed I begin to remove my baggy jeans, letting them fall around my ankles before stepping out of them in my exhausted shuffling. The oversized pants drag behind me as I shuffle along, snagging on my right foot as I approach the bed.

I begin to reach for the bottom of my tent-like shirt when suddenly Kelly begins to speak.

"Wait, you ain't gonna take me off are ya?" she asks, yawning inside my head as she begins to show the same level of tiredness as myself.

My eyes are barely open as I answer, my body dropping down onto the bed face first and eliciting a loud painful wince as I land on my new breasts. "Well...yeah...I was going to...sleep as..." I mumble, my words spacing out further and further as I dose off.

"But I wanna...wanna sleep too" Kelly replies, her words growing in a droning tone as she is overcome sleep.

Despite her pleas I weakly fiddle with my shirt, trying to get it over my head but failing to do so entirely as I lay atop of it. My efforts grow weaker and slower until finally I too am taken into a deep sleep, my loud snoring echoing out through my quiet empty home.
