With a little hop in place, trying to get my still slightly aching body energized, I decide to stay home to relax with some games. It had been a long day, at least for my unemployed and generally relaxed self, and while I had the whole weekend ahead of me I just needed to unwind tonight.
With my legs still shaking slightly from my workout I pace my way into the kitchen, snatching up a few snacks and drinks to work through while I game. Chips, gummy worms, and energy drink are collected into my arms before I quickly head back to the living room and dump them on the coffee table in front of my couch.
It didn't matter if I ate some junk food, so long as I had my goals set properly in the app things would work out in the end. With a little hiss I'm reminded of my newly wiped schedule and workout goals for a moment before shaking it from my head. Again, that was a tomorrow problem.
Shuffling towards my TV and the numerous gaming consoles scattered around it on and within the cabinet it rests upon I try to pick what to play. While I am not starved for choice by any means, finding the right vibe for a lazy Friday afternoon just doesn't seem to come easily. My eyes glaze over for a moment, becoming unfocused as I stare down at the various controller and consoles, before I reach down for the Switch.
Grabbing the controllers from the dock I quickly dive back on the sofa, eagerly opening up a packet of corn chips as I begin to flick through the games installed in the system. With the occasional pause to shovel some of the salty crunchy snacks into my mouth, I shift back and force over various games and apps. Hades, Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Enter the Gungeon, each one passing by as I struggle to make a decision.
Slumping back in my seat, hanging my head back as I stare up at the beige ceiling, I let out a disgruntled groan.
"Why is this so hard?" I grumble, always having been plagued with this problem of too many games and nothing to play.
Looking down at my laptop sitting on the coffee table I suddenly have an idea. Opening the screen and booting up the computer I quickly head to the Animal Crossing Wiki, remembering how many updates had come out since I last played. With a list of fish and bugs on screen, I quickly boot up the game to begin my chill afternoon collecting virtual animals.
Racing around my island, cleaning up weeds and talking to the other residents quickly lulls me into a relatively mellow state. The hours fly by as I chase the rare new items for my collection, reorganize my house, and redecorate my island to make it tidier and more aesthetically pleasing.
However, as I sit on the couch for hour after hour I soon feel my ass falling asleep. Despite how much I love my old green couch it wasn't in the best condition after all these years, much of the padding having been lost or failing after an immense amount of use by myself and guests.
As I play the game I keep finding myself shifting awkwardly in my seat, grinding my bony behind into the cushions as I try to find some semblance of long-term comfort. However, no matter how I move or adjust my seating the longer I'm on the seat the more numb and uncomfortable my behind become.
Admitting defeat I pause the game, twisting around and laying down on the couch. However, even this change isn't without its flaws. While the dull numbed ache in my rear quickly begins to dissipate it is far too obvious that I am too tall to comfortably lay on the couch. My neck strains up against one of the arms of the cozy little sofa, my legs craning up and over the other side and digging into the overly firm arm.
For several hours I roll and shift in my seat, alternating between positions on the couch as I try to find a single comfortable position that doesn't eventually become distracting. The warm afternoon light that had filled my apartment slowly begins to fade, giving way to a vivid red sunset before growing dimmer and dimmer.
I'm only snapped from my gaming stupor as my phone buzzes, the notification bringing me back to reality as I being to rub my straining eyes.
"Oh...shit what time is..." I mutter, wiping my eyes as I glance over at my laptop. My stomach, despite having been satiated with salty snacks and sugary drinks, begs for something more substantial. Realizing how long I had been playing, going from the early afternoon to early evening all in what felt like a blink of an eye, I finally turn off the game.
With a groan I slowly pull myself to my feet, stretching out and flexing my aching muscles after spending so long shifting from uncomfortable position to uncomfortable position on my couch. Heading over to the console I quickly dock the controllers before beginning an absent-minded wander around the apartment, a little lost in thought as I try to decide what to do for dinner after such a lazy afternoon.
Lost in thought, I completely forget my phone and the notification that brought me out of my gaming trance. Despite not looking at the notification that didn't mean it had gone away, a small update from the Fit-In App's new Generated Goals feature stating...
